another possibility, if the time doesn't go too fast, is to use the tickadj command to reduce the number of ticks per interrupt.
it requires a certain amount of manual tuning, but you can correct clock speed up to 10%, if I remember correctly, hopefully enough to bring the guest clock into the range that ntp can correct.
